Suzanne
Jonas, Ed.D. holds a doctorate in counseling psychology
and creative therapies and has training in Guided Imagery
& Music, BioAcoustics, and Hemi-Sync. As a former semi-professional
musician she discovered within herself the power of music
to heal, and has spent 20 years researching and practicing
music medicine with a wide variety of patients. She has worked
in acute care hospitals and rehabilitation facilities, and
taught at the University of Massachusetts. She has done definitive
research on music and the effects of sound on physiology and
emotion; has co-authored a Cardiac Healing Tape and a Relaxation
tape with the Monroe Institute; and has produced several other
healing tapes. Her guide to passive music therapy, Take
Two Tapes and Call Me in the Morning is widely used
by hospital practitioners and she has contributed a chapter
on Music Therapy in Physical Rehabilitation in the Baylor
School of Medicines Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation:
The Definitive Approach. She currently trains teachers, health
care workers, and business personnel in the uses of music
and sound for stress and symptom reduction and to increase
whole brain learning, healing, and productivity. Suzanne maintains
a private behavioral medicine practice, Music
and Medicine, in Maryville TN and is president of the
TN chapter of Wholistic Wellness Network.
