Jane
Buckle, PhD, RN, founder of RJ
Buckle Associates, has a background in critical care nursing
and is certified in clinical aromatherapy, aromatic medicine
and adult education. She obtained her bachelors degree
(BPhil, Exeter University, UK) in Complementary Medicine after
carrying out one of the earliest clinical trials using aromatherapy
in critical care. She has an MA in Clinical Aromatherapy (Middlesex
University, UK) and a PhD in Health Service Management (Columbus
University, US). She is adjunct faculty at University of Minnesota,
Bastyr University, WA and The College of New Rochelle NY.
Her book, Clinical Aromatherapy in Nursing, 1997 and has been
acknowledged as the definitive aromatherapy text in nursing.
Her second book is due out early 2003. Dr Buckle created a
certification course for health professionals endorsed by
the American
Holistic Nurses Association. She has pioneered a method
of touch for the critically ill or fragile called the m
technique®. This method is being taught in universities,
hospitals, hospices and long-term care facilities in the US.
Dr. Buckle creates post-graduate courses for universities
and is published widely in medical and nursing journals. She
lectures and presents internationally and is currently involved
in clinical research. She is a board member of ARC (Aromatherapy
Registration Council), an advisor to the National Association
for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) NAHAs education committee,
scientific advisor to RQA (Register of Qualified Aromatherapists,
UK), is on the editorial board of The Aromatherapy Journal
and the advisory board of Alternative Therapies in Health
& Medicine.
