The Instructor Development Program

The Instructor Development Program is an opportunity for qualified participants to become instructors for The BirchTree Center’s introductory program, ReAwakening the Heart: Caring & Renewal in Nursing Practice. This complementary/alternative training program is an introduction to holistic nursing and complementary skills that has been taught in numerous healthcare institutions nationwide since 1999. To date over 2700 nurses have enjoyed a day with their peers in which they could learn in a relaxed and interactive setting.

ReAwakening the Heart: Caring & Renewal in Nursing Practice is a full day retreat program for nurses, that offers 7.8 contact hours through the American Holistic Nurses’ Association (AHNA). You will serve as an inspiring educator to other nurses while making an income from work that excites and energizes you. As a BirchTree Center Instructor, you can bring this uplifting and powerful program to hospitals, nursing schools, professional organizations and community settings.

Instructor candidates will participate in an 5 day intensive training process in which the curriculum is designed to build upon your existing knowledge and practice of holistic nursing while developing the skills necessary to present ReAwakening the Heart: Caring & Renewal in Nursing Practice with leadership, warmth, and confidence. This program is conducted once a year on the grounds of Smith College in Northampton, MA. Smith College provides an extraordinary learning environment and state of the art facilities. Nurses earn 33 continuing education contact hours.

"Being an Instructor for ReAwakening the Heart of Nursing has been an opportunity for me to honor my colleagues, re-enforce the value of caring, and raise the consciousness of nurses to what they already know in their hearts. Each group I have facilitated has in turn contributed to my personal and professional growth, making it a sacred and spiritual experience each time."
